Tides Seafood is dedicated to creating a restaurant that offers fresh, simple and appetizing seafood in a comfortable atmosphere.  Our menu is designed with dishes that are not intimidating or complicated to our guest’s palette, yet still strives to offer a variety of choices that will keep you excited in the concepts of how seafood can be prepared and offered.  When our guest come to Tides to have dinner, we want them to leave feeling like they just took a walk by the shore….enjoying the Tides.

Concept Development

After having dinner one night in November of 2003, we were discussing how the meal was and found that we just weren’t pleased with our experience.  The discussion headed  towards how dissatisfied we were with the overall service and quality and right then and there, a decision was made.  We wanted to bring a special place to New Yorkers that encompassed all our ideals in the perfect restaurant.  Two days later we started looking for a space. 

Our search bought us to a space on the Lower East Side in Manhattan.  It was small but quaint.  We had visited many larger locations, but felt that a small and intimate location would give us the best opportunity to maintain cost control and quality without sacrificing service.   

Our award winning design should be credited to the Lower East Side firm LTL Architects.  We were familiar with their unique talent of producing spectacular work using simple materials in small spaces.  Upon meeting with them, there was an immediate seamless collaboration of ideas developing.  Our vision of building something that defines classical dining with a casual feel that has become synonymous with the Lower East Side opened its doors 13 months later in 2005.

The Owners

Our group of partners have worked and played in our family’s kitchens and restaurants over the past 20 years.  We all share a deep appreciation of classical seafood and joined together in this endeavor to create something unique and special without compromising our service and quality.  We feel that integrity and passion are the key components to what drives a restaurant to maintain a high level of service and cuisine that translates into success.
